Silliman Divinity School is one of the major schools for theological education for the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP). Gifts to this ECO will help upgrade the school's library and assist with desperately needed scholarship aid for bright, needy ministry students.

The Revs. Paul Matheny and Mary Nebelsick — Professors
Paul Matheny and Mary Nebelsick teach at Union Theological Seminary in Dasmarinas, near Manila. Mary, an ordained PC(USA) minister, teaches biblical studies, and Paul, a minister of the Christian Church, teaches Christian theology, the philosophy of religion and ministerial studies. Both are involved in the seminary’s program to develop future leaders in theological education.

Carlton (Cobbie) Palm — Director of Spiritual Formation
Cobbie Palm, a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in New York City and the son of Presbyterian missionaries, has served in the Philippines for more than a decade. He is director of spiritual formation at the Divinity School at Silliman University in Dumaguete City. Silliman is a premier academic institution under the auspices of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines. Cobbie designs and facilitates retreats and workshops, which are incorporated into the semester for each class and the whole seminary community.

Retired church workers, who have given 30-plus years of service, are without a source of income. The United Church of Christ in the Philippines is asking the PC(USA) to provide support for a pension program that will give benefits for the retired church workers.
