Extra Commitment Opportunities

There is a channel through which gifts can be designated for specific items that support the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s work around the world. These are called Extra Commitment Opportunities (ECOs). You can give directly to an ECO account online or by mailing your check designating the name and account number of the particular item you have chosen to:

Evangelism

Frontier Mission: Bengalis

Funding through this ECO supports two different ministries. One is the Sylhet Presbyterian Synod (SPS) in northeast Bangladesh, which has four presbyteries and 7,000 members. The SPS is the product of Welsh Presbyterian mission work. The other ministry supported is Talitha Koumi, which is directed by the Rev. Philip Adhikary, a Baptist pastor. Both ministries focus on the tribal and minority Hindus in Bangladesh.

Health

Health & Social Development Programs, Church Of Bangladesh

The Church of Bangladesh, a partner church of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), is nurturing the healing ministry of its congregations, development projects and hospitals. The healing ministry of the church extends to Muslims and Hindus as well as to Christians, and it is a critical part of the church's overall outreach. Funds are needed to develop this important ministry of the church.

NetWorkers Malaria Prevention

NetWorkers projects in malaria-stricken nations provide mosquito nets and prevention education to protect families from malaria, the disease that is the leading cause of death among young children and a serious health threat to pregnant women.

Mission Personnel

Leslie and Cynthia Morgan, Health Consultants

Since 1989, Drs. Les and Cindy Morgan have been PC(USA)'s only missionaries in one of the world's poorest and most densely populated countries, Bangladesh. They have served in hospitals and run village clinics. They have worked on controlling tuberculosis and leprosy. In August 2006 the Morgans relocated to the capital city of Dhaka, where they serve as advisors for the Church of Bangladesh health ministries.
