Typhoon Morakot hit Taiwan over the weekend of August 7-10, 2009. Although the typhoon’s path was over Taipei, it caused the most destruction in the southern region of Taiwan.
The Presbyterian Church of Taiwan (PCT) issued a letter indicating that the PCT General Assembly was already active and involved in national disaster response relief and rescue work, doing their part as best as they can. PCT has been coordinating with their numerous presbyteries in setting up relief centers, phone help lines, and dropping stations for in-kind donations and money.
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has worked with the Presbyterian Church of Taiwan — the largest indigenous Protestant group on the island — in disaster response and stands ready to respond as needed upon request.
