LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A report to the Evangelism and Mission Committee of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s General Assembly Mission Council (GAMC) confirms that the Ghost Ranch Conference Center has withdrawn its current incorporation proposal.
Brian Frick, associate for Camp and Conference Ministries, along with Debra Hepler, executive director of Ghost Ranch, told elected GAMC committee members that the New Mexico conference center withdrew its proposal “in order to work collaboratively with GAMC staff in Louisville.”
In a collaborative process, the Ghost Ranch governing board and staff and GAMC leaders will find solutions to the issues raised in the incorporation proposal.
“Eventually a new covenant agreement will be created that addresses the administrative and governance realities of Ghost Ranch in relationship with the GAMC,” says Frick. “This will lead to administrative and mission practices that enable Ghost Ranch to operate a more sustainable ministry for the PC(USA).”
Ghost Ranch is one of three national conference centers in the PC(USA).
Camp and Conference Ministries is part of the General Assembly Mission Council’s Evangelism & Church Growth ministry area.
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) comprises 2.2 million members in more than 10,000 congregations, answering Christ’s call to mission and ministry throughout the United States and the world.
