LOUISVILLE, KY — Brian Frick of Parkville, Mo., is the new Associate for Camps and Conference Centers for the General Assembly Council.

“I’m excited to have Brian on board because he’s an out-of-the-box thinker,” says Eric Hoey, director of Evangelism and Church Growth. “His leadership in our camps and conference ministry will have great influence upon the whole church.”

Frick has led several Presbyterian camps and conference centers over the past decade. Since 2005, he has been director of programs for Heartland Presbyterian Center in Kansas City, Mo. At Heartland he supervised the expansion of program department staff and created 15 new ministry programs, launched a challenge course program and implemented a day camp. Frick also designed multimedia marketing vehicles that creatively promoted and highlighted the benefits of outdoor ministry.

In his new position, Frick is working with 158 Presbyterian camps and conference centers throughout the denomination to support and strengthen camp and conference ministries. He will help to craft a long-term vision for the use of camp and conference sites to better meet the changing needs and demands of their constituents. He will also promote the significant and varied resources of the camps and conference centers available to help carry out the mission priorities of the PC(USA).

“Everything I’ve done in ministry led me to this position,” says Frick who began his work at the Presbyterian Center in December. “I’m so excited to support camp and conference ministry and our denomination as a whole. Faith formation needs space to breath and we have these spaces. In these places evangelism – the good news of being welcomed – occurs.”

Frick previously directed programs for the Westminster Woods Camp and Conference Center in Occidental, Calif., and the Johnsonburg Presbyterian Center in Johnsonburg, N.J.

This new position was made possible by a grant from the Donald A. Hostetter Fund for Camp, from the Presbyterian Church Camp and Conference Association.
