recommends revised mission budget to General Assembly Council

LOUISVILLE, KY. – At a meeting here today, the Executive Committee of the General Assembly Council (GAC) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) recommended a revised 2009 GAC mission budget to the General Assembly Council.
The GAC mission budget approved in September 2008 was $110,885,317. The proposed 2009 mission budget is $106,914,584, based on more than 150 recommended changes, including minimal staff reductions. The reduced expenses ($3.99 million), combined with additional revenue from prior year accumulations ($5.93 million), will address a total budget shortfall of about $9.92 million.
“I want to thank the staff for their hard work over the past few months,” said Carol Adcock, chair of the General Assembly Council. “I know this was not an easy process, but it was truly a collaborative effort, made in a thoughtful, strategic and prayerful manner.”
Meetings of the General Assembly Council continue through this week and final decisions on the revised 2009 mission budget and other matters are expected on Friday afternoon, March 27. The General Assembly Council will meet again in September to consider the 2010 GAC mission budget. |
