Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,
I will soon be leaving Piedras Negras and Proyecto Amistad to
spend two months doing mission interpretation in the United States.
Lord willing, on December 1st I will move to San Luis Potosí,
Mexico, where I join colleagues in the Presbytery of the Huastecas,
support their evangelistic and educational ministries, and prepare
the ground for their future relationships and ministry with churches
in the United States.
Today my mind is filled with many memories, joys, and reflections,
mostly it’s my to-do list that dominates my thoughts: training
Roberto and Chris to take over operations of the U.S. office;
writing 2007 grant proposals for Amistad; selling, packing, or
storing my belongings; making necessary repairs and adaptations
to my “new” 1997 Ford F-150 4x4; and saying “hasta
luego” to all my friends here in Piedras Negras.
I do leave Piedras Negras on September 30. During October and
November I will visiting the following churches or presbyteries:
Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church of Austin, Texas; Detroit Presbytery;
First Presbyterian Church of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Northeast Georgia
Presbytery; Westminster Presbyterian Church of Rockford, Illinois;
Nevada Presbytery; Central Nebraska Presbytery; and Covenant Presbyterian
Church of San Antonio, Texas. I covet your prayers for my travel
(all by air) and for the many opportunities I will have to share
the good news of God’s transforming power at work in the
lives of people across the United States and Mexico. I also ask
that you join me in praying that my visa acquisition process would
go smoothly and quickly.
Please make note of the following contact information.

check it once a week.

It’s (830) 352-4557.
- Once I am in Mexico, I will inform you of the best phone
contact information.
- My new U.S. mailing address will now be: 801 Forest View
Drive, Austin Texas, 78746. Mail will be forwarded to me at
least once a month.
- My Mexico mailing address will be: a/c Presbiterio de las
Huastecas, Calle Aquiles Serdán #111, Col. San Rafael,
Tamazunchale SLP, CP 79960 Mexico. Letters only please.
- Please note that I
now have a blog. Yes, I have joined the 21st century. But
don’t expect too much. Not that I don’t like to
write, but I am hesitant to have personal info posted on the
Internet for all the world to see. Nevertheless, I will try
to post updates and reflections there as I am able. Some of
the text will likely be what I email to you and even what you
find on my profile page
at the PC(USA) Web site.
- A few folks have asked how they can support my work in the
Huastecas. My salary and benefits come from the Presbyterian
Church (U.S.A.) but I do need to do my share in finding resources
to cover those expenses. Contributions can be sent to PC(USA),
Individual Remittance Processing, PO Box 643700, Pittsburgh,
PA 15264-3700. Please make the following annotation on your
check: “For Frerichs, ECO#074044.” And thank you
for your generosity! I am about $7,000 per year short of my
fundraising goal.
Please be in touch! Let me know how I can pray for you! Yes,
I want to hear your news, that we might rejoice and or mourn together.
Thank you all so very much for the love and kindness you show
me.
His grace be sufficient for you this day.
In gratitude,
Susie
