Going Green
Candace Hill
Coordinator, Educational Ministries Theology Worship and Education
Publishers have a specific term for articles that can be dropped into an edition of a magazine and used at any time. These items, referred to as evergreen, are put into a file to pull out as needed. Evergreen articles are timeless and offer lasting value. When deadlines are fast approaching, they may become the final addition to a print piece and complete the project.
Evergreen articles can save the day. The publishing term, evergreen, resonates with the greater purpose behind going green, the theme of this combined issue of the 2010 Spring and Summer ideas! For Church Leaders.
Readers and subscribers may be asking, “Is the topic of going green becoming trite? Do we really need more information about this catchphrase? Is green the new black, another hot trend or fad? How does going green relate to the educational ministry of the church?” If you are wondering about the relevance of this subject to your call as teacher, pastor, educator, or elder, you are not alone. People in all parts of this good earth struggle to find a plan of action in the call to go green.
