Friendship Ministries is sharing God’s love with people who have cognitive impairments
Congregational Ministries Publishing is proud to introduce Friendship Ministries. The decision to offer this valuable resource is directly related to our commitment to ministry and mission with people. This curriculum is designed for people with special needs, and we hope the church will find it a valuable tool.
Who is Friendship Ministries?
Friendship Ministries is an international non-profit ministry that provides extensive consulting services to help start programs for people with cognitive impairments and a comprehensive set of Christian formation materials designed for people with cognitive impairments. Over the past 25 years, Friendship Ministries has supported more than 800 organizations and churches (from 40+ denominations) in starting such programs.
What is a Friendship Program?
The purpose of a Friendship program is to nurture the spiritual growth of people with cognitive impairments (“friends”) in the context of personal and meaningful relationships. Participants in a Friendship program include a group leader, mentors (teachers) and friends.
The group leader coordinates the program and presents the Bible story during the group session; the mentors pair up with friends during one-on-one time, which is a breakout session used to build relationships, talk about the Bible story, and complete the activities in the take-home paper.
